Women's jackets: which cut to choose between a short jacket, blazer, or knit

A women's jacket is first and foremost chosen for its cut. Three different constructions coexist in our collection, each for a different use. The collars, sleeves, and pockets then distinguish the models and determine the comfort of each piece.

The short jacket, for a clean line

The short jacket ends at the waist and reshapes the silhouette in a single gesture. It leaves the hips exposed, which elongates the leg when worn over straight or fluid trousers. You will find them buttoned, with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, or in a safari style. Our selection of mid-season jackets brings together the most wearable models from September to November.

The blazer, for the office and dressed-up outfits

The blazer is recognizable by its tailored collar and sharp drape. It structures the shoulders without stiffness and adds elegance to a simple outfit. Its sleeves follow the line of the arm without constricting it. Tailored cuts define the waist, while fluid cuts offer more ease. Our blazers cover both of these approaches.

The knit jacket, supple and unlined

Unlined, this women's jacket moves with you and stays comfortable all day long. Front buttoning and patch pockets give it a chic look. Its versatility explains why many women choose it first. Our knit jackets bring these creations together.

Our materials: wool, Milano knit, and viscose

Every creation is also chosen for its material. Our materials determine the drape as much as the comfort, ranging from dense wools and intricate knits to fluid cuts.

Wool, for structure and warmth

Wool provides a compact material that holds its shape and blocks the wind. It is suitable for short jackets worn as a primary layer, from the first cold days of winter. One model in the collection is knitted from merino wool, a fine fiber that regulates temperature. Our wool jackets group these pieces together.

Milano knit, a double knit that holds its shape

This double knit structures the silhouette where an ordinary knit would lose its shape, and its stretch follows your movement without restricting the arms. The sleeves retain their shape over time. You will find the same yarns in our sweaters.

Intricate knits and viscose

Iridescent rice stitch, graphic mesh, and jacquard add texture to a solid piece. Viscose, being more fluid, is suitable for supple, straight-falling cuts. The colors remain sober: navy blue, beige, burgundy, brown, with a brighter pink. Each color pairs effortlessly with the others, and beige goes with almost everything. Our made-in-France knit coats extend this craftsmanship to longer, more covering lengths.

How to wear a women's jacket throughout the season

Three combinations require little effort in an autumn and winter wardrobe. When temperatures really drop, our coats take over, and the jacket can be worn underneath.

A blazer over straight-leg jeans

A blazer and straight-leg jeans make for the easiest office outfit to pull off. The blazer elevates the jeans, while the jeans lighten the silhouette. Add a white shirt or a fine sweater for a softer style. The navy blue and beige pieces in the collection match most jeans and trousers.

A short jacket over a knit dress

A short wool jacket sits over a dress without breaking its line. Our knit dresses are well-suited to this combination in autumn, winter, and the mid-season.

A knit jacket in place of a cardigan

Worn over a shirt, a knit jacket advantageously replaces a cardigan. It provides the same second layer of warmth with a chicer look and a bolder color. Our cardigans remain an alternative when you are looking for extra suppleness.

Jackets knitted in France since 1927

Knitting has been our original profession since 1927, and it remains what distinguishes every creation. Our elegance lies in the knit, not the ornamentation, and this style persists across our collections.

Half of the collection knitted in Roanne

Half of our jackets come out of our workshops in Roanne. This is not just a tag on a label; it is where the knitting actually happens. Our knitwear made in France brings all these pieces together.

What this means when worn

A dense knit retains its shoulder shape even after dozens of wears. A loose knit loses its shape after the first year and never recovers. You cannot see the difference in a boutique, but you will notice it after two winters. This is also what explains the price difference compared to mass-market jackets.

Frequently asked questions about women's jackets

Which women's jacket should you choose for mid-season?

A knit jacket or a short wool jacket will cover the mid-seasons without needing a coat. The former is suitable for mild days and heated interiors. Wool takes over as soon as the wind picks up. If you are hesitant, the short jacket remains the most versatile.

What is the difference between a blazer and a short jacket?

The blazer is worn open with a tailored collar and sharp drape for a dressed-up look. The short jacket buttons up and closes high, sometimes with a stand-up collar, for a more everyday style. One finishes off an outfit, the other keeps you warm.

How do you care for a knit or wool jacket?

Hand wash in cold or lukewarm water, not exceeding 20°C, using a very mild liquid detergent. Do not pull on the knit and do not let it soak. In the machine, choose the cold wool cycle. Always dry flat on a towel, never on a hanger. Our care instructions detail the specifics for each material.

What size should I choose for a stretch Milano knit jacket?

Take your usual size. Milano knit is stretchy and forgiving if your chest measurement varies slightly. Our jackets are available from sizes 36 to 50 depending on the model, with some in sizes S to XL. Our size guide indicates how to take your measurements.

What is the price of a Devernois jacket?

Prices range from €109 to €389. The price primarily depends on the material and the complexity of the knit. A viscose jacket starts the range, while a piece knitted in Roanne concludes it. This price reflects the time spent in the workshop as much as the fiber used.
